The Art of Display & the Science of Selling

Sunday 2nd April 2017, 09:30 - 12:30
Thief Hall, Thornton le Moor, Near Northallerton DL7 9EH

Making your wonderful products is only the first step to successful stall at any craft fair. How you display your stock can make the difference between a few admirers of your work passing by and customers stopping to buy one of your creations.

To help you get this right Made by Mummy Markets has teamed up with Helen Goodwin, owner of the York based visual design consultancy, Made You Look! Helen has had a successful career in visual display and window dressing in London’s Oxford Street, so has a wealth of first class knowledge to share.

During this half day session Helen will start with a PowerPoint presentation to teach the basic points and principles of display - fundamental rules and guidelines, balance, space, focal points, colour, sight lines, grouping, planning, signage, tools of the trade as well as much more.  She will demonstrate basic grouping techniques as well as other simple projects which you’ll find invaluable for most displays. This will also include a simple hands-on project where you practice the basic principles using simple shapes. You’ll receive a set of light notes to keep as reminder of the day’s learning.

Taking place in Thief Hall, the venue for the next Made by Mummy Market, Helen will be able to provide specific advice and guidance. This is a great opportunity to work with a professional merchandiser and display whizz.

This event is ideally timed for any Made by Mummy Market sellers participating in the October market, but it is open to all.

Following the workshop you are invited to remain in the venue for an informal networking lunch, bring your own packed lunch to enjoy in this amazing setting with creative friends. Tea and coffee will be provided.
